During Protopaja, a course arranged by Aalto Elec, we created an AR assisted rescue workwear concept for Savox Communications Ltd. The time limit was 2½ months and our budget 1000€.
With these limitations we managed to create a working prototype of a system that streams ToF-camera raw data to an MCU and displays the video feed. The display system consists of a tft-screen, a microscope lens for focus and a mirror to project the image and create the 3D illusion. The prototype was modelled in Solidworks, utilizing a head model created by the National Institute of Health and Safety. Thanks to this head model we where able to create a prototype that fit the user perfectly.
The work was done in a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers, programmers, and industrial designers. The group members where Oskari Ponkala, Simo Hakanummi, Carlo Palermo and Jean Munck.
