Vaisseau spatial is a lamp concept created to suite a French restaurant in Helsinki, made during a course at Aalto University. As a part of the assignment, interviews with the restaurant owners where conducted to gain knowledge about the restaurant’s values and aesthetics. From this the design of a lamp that would fit the restaurants style was born. Attention was also paid to the manufacturing aspects of the design; the goal was to create a product that was suitable for a small-scale production run.
The lamp is based on the art-deco movement of 1920s with just a hint of Scandinavian minimalism. The material is stainless steel and birch.
